Privacy model

A double-blind reveal, enforced at the data level.

Privacy isn't a setting on JoinForces. It's how the product works.

The double-blind reveal

When our team proposes a match, each founder sees an anonymized card and responds privately. Neither founder can see the other's response, including a Pass.

Only when both founders say Interested are identities revealed to each other. If either passes, the match closes for both, with no reason given.

These rules are enforced by the database itself, not just hidden on screen. Another founder's details can't be fetched before mutual interest, even by going around the app.

Ranges, not exact numbers

Revenue, outside funding, and capital you've put in are collected as ranges, such as "$10k–50k". Exact figures are never collected for matching and never shown to a match.

What a match sees

  • Industry and stage
  • A one-line description of the venture (no company name)
  • Country
  • Target customer and problem area, described generally
  • Revenue, funding, and capital as ranges
  • Months invested and commitment level
  • How open you are to combining efforts

What stays hidden until mutual interest

  • Your name and email
  • Your LinkedIn
  • Your company name
  • Your city
  • Your background and other free text
  • Your response to the match

Pausing your profile

Switch your profile to Paused at any time. While paused you won't be considered for new matches. Switch back whenever you're ready.

Full account deletion

You can delete your account from settings. Your login, profile, venture, and match data are permanently removed. We keep only anonymous aggregate counts, such as the total number of matches made.
